While riding to the office after a dental appointment I found myself hitting the breaks suddenly after spotting something in the corner of my eye. I really couldn’t believe what I saw and had to turn back to check.
I found a guy in a very non descript building busy building a bicycle frame.
Takai San explained he was from Kyoto and had moved to Tokyo to set up his business.
Without a second thought I asked him if I could spend some time shooting him while he built a few frames and he agreed.
I was surprised at just how much effort, skill and knowledge goes into making a frame.
Unfortunately the series remains unfinished due to our mismatched schedules.
Below is a series of frames I managed to take over the summer in 2011.
