Every year in Koenji in Tokyo there is an Awaordori Matsuri festival held over two days.
The dance / style of festival originates from Tokushima on Shikoku island in the south of Japan.
More than a million people watch the even over the two day period.
My wife is a member of the Koenji Tenshoren Awaordori team and I was lucky enough to stumble upon the chance to shoot the team during the event in 2008.
Each year since I have shot for the team at the event and have slowly realized how luck I am to have been allowed this type of access.
